The tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery have caused deep sorrow and heartbreak among our staff and leadership.

Their deaths and the events that followed sparked ongoing introspection and conversation at INTRUST Bank. With this valuable dialogue comes increased empathy, honest evaluation and a deep desire for lasting change.

Our values affirm our commitment to the well-being of others. They assert our recognition of the unique gifts and talents we each possess and the value and potential that resides with each of us. These convictions define our response to racism and inequality.

We encourage you to read the following statement to INTRUST employees from our chairman and CEO.

Recent events are a reminder of our responsibility to believe, speak and act

The recent death of George Floyd, and those of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and far too many others, are senseless tragedies impacting all of us. Each of these lives had great value, and to see them cut short violates the principles we cherish and is cause for much sadness and disappointment.

At INTRUST, we state with certainty and conviction that we advocate for equality, justice and positive change. We stand with those working to improve our communities and nation and to ensure every voice is heard. We strongly denounce racism and discrimination wherever they occur.

Our Corporate Blueprint defines our culture and character. It calls for every employee to respect and cherish the unique strengths and abilities of those they work with and serve. It teaches us to treat others as we would like to be treated and to look for the best in everyone around us. These are basic principles, but their immense value cannot be overstated. They will continue to guide us in all that we do and as we move forward to seek positive change.

While words matter, so do actions. Recent events serve as immediate and stark reminders of our responsibility not just to believe or speak, but to act. Meaningful change requires purposeful effort. We stand committed to working with our community partners to improve the lives of the citizens in our communities and to work for a brighter future for all. Our foundational commitment to consistently contribute to the well-being of others will never change.

We know we don’t have all the answers. We do have the desire to work with others who are committed to bringing about positive change, equality and justice. I am grateful to all of you for joining me on this journey.
